Our Mission
The Wittering is a relaxed & inviting free house with rooms in the beautiful West Sussex coastal village of West Wittering. Embracing our location beside the premier blue flag beach of West Wittering and stunning South Downs National Park, our aim is to provide a welcoming environment for friends and family to come together, eat, drink and champion the community around us.
Head chef, Doug Gaunt, is passionate about celebrating local, seasonal and sustainable produce, and is renowned for his ‘Wittering twist’ on classic and favourite dishes. He takes inspiration from the changing seasons and surrounding flora and fauna in his menu designs. WE source OUR ingredients from LOCAL foragers, growers, fishermen, producers and suppliers who share OUR high standards and values.
We look forward to welcoming our local friends as well as visitors from afar into the wittering. whether that is for a drink by the fire, sun-downers in the garden, an enjoyable meal, staying in one of our comfortable rooms or EVEN just a refreshment and snack at the bar.
